Clock Calibration

Setting of a molecular clock in geological time by referencing a node or common ancestor branch point at a securely dated event such as a vicariance event, e.g. the last possible time that certain African and South American rodent populations could have shared a common ancestor before the breakup of Gondwanaland that formed the present southern continents.
