Controlled Use Of Fire

Physical evidence of controlled combustion found in direct association with early humans. Many confirmed hearths are associated with the Mousterian tool tradition and later sites; the controlled use of fire at early sites has been systematically challenged or refuted, but see Ambrona, Clacton-on-Sea, Ehringsdorf, Lazaret, Makapansgat, Torralba, and Zhoukoudian.
