Deliberate Burial

Placement of a dead body in the ground, or in a crypt or urn, or upon some structure; the practice began on present evidence during the Middle Paleolithic period (c. 80-35 kya) and became more common during the Upper Paleolithic. Decorative items placed on individuals found at archaeological sites are a sign of deliberate burial.
