Delta Waves

Electrical activity emanating in a general pattern from the cerebral hemispheres, normally detected as rhythmic oscillations of about 1-5 cycles per second. These waves are common in an alert infant and in a sleeping adult; the presence of delta waves in an awake adult indicates brain damage.

See electroencephalogram, brain waves. Aka delta rhythm.
