Dental Apes

Term applied to certain Fayum fossil primates that date to the Oligocene and that possessed molar tooth patterns similar to those of apes, suggesting that, like the living apes and some New World monkeys, these fossil monkeys were frugivores. However, they were not apes in the modern sense.
