Dental Development

Several stages beginning with calcification, or tooth formation, and eruption (emergence from the gum line) of teeth. Teeth do not grow in the sense that bones do; once they erupt from the gum line they are full size, whether deciduous dentition or the adult set (that erupts during childhood). Teeth erupt, for the most part, between birth and age ten. Dental development provides one of the most accurate estimates of age up until adulthood.
