Diabetes Insipidus, Nephrogenic, Type 1

Inherited disease of the kidneys marked by thirst and dehydration that causes copious urination and defective urine concentration by alcohol dehydrogenase. The autosomal dominant forms are due to mutations in either a precursor protein gene or the vasopressin gene itself. The more common X-linked recessive form (NDI1) is due to mutations in the vasopressin receptor gene. Aka nonsaccharine diabetes, polydipsia.
