Diploid

Having two nearly identical sets of chromosomes or chromatids. The sets are homologous, one of maternal origin and one of paternal origin, and morphologically nearly identical except for the sex chromosomes of the heterogametic sex, which are homologous but not morphologically identical in most mammals.
