Dyslexia

Specific reading disability. Thought to be caused by chemical disruption during the third trimester (7th month) of gestation. The DYX1 gene is an autosomal dominant; one of nine types of similar effect with a genetic basis. The condition exhibits incomplete penetrance; heritability is about 60%. Dyslexia has a prevalence of about 5-6% in American school-age children.
