Empiriocriticism

Austrian version of positivism that later also gave rise to logical positivism; that science strives for only the most economical of descriptive systems, and on which further predictions are based, eschewing hidden entities or causes. Developed by Ernst Mach (1838-1916) and Richard Avenarius (1843-96).
