Endogamy

Any system of sexual reproduction (such as inbreeding) in which the mating partners are more closely related than in a random (panmictic) system; endogamous. In a cultural sense, endogamy is a conventionally defined distance defined by a compulsory threshold within which one must mate and beyond which one must not mate.

Cf. exogamy.
