Energetic Cost Of Brain Size

Any measure of metabolism, heat generation, etc., that reflects the proportion of energy required by organisms with different degrees of encephalization. On average, marsupials dispense only about 2% of resting metabolism toward support of brain functions, whereas chimpanzees dispense 9%, and humans about 20%.
