Epistasis

1. any interaction of nonallelic genes whereby one gene interferes with the phenotypic expression of alleles at another locus; the second level of gene interaction parallel to allelic and genotype-environment interactions. Adjective: epistatic.

2. the rise of, or flotation of, insoluble material on the top of a liquid.
