Equilibrium Model

1. any mathematical model in which gross inputs and outputs result in a net change of zero.

2. in genetics, a dynamic model in which mechanisms of evolution cause internal changes to a population without a net change in allele frequencies, and therefore no evolution.

3. in island biogeography, a state when the rate of immigration of new colonizing species is balanced by the rate of extinction of old species.
