Evolutionary Psychology

Emerging discipline concerned with the origins and functions of human behavior, with a view toward discovering evolved cognitive modules that underly those behavioral traits that helped human survival in prehistory; postulates that humans are adaptation executors and optimizers. This differs from central arguments in sociobiology, which postulate that humans are fitness maximizers.

Cf. Standard Social Science Model.
