Proposal by Chomsky et al. that language is comprised of several components: a sensory-motor system, a conceptual-intentional system, and the computational mechanisms for recursion; that the FL in the broad sense (FLB) is inclusive of all components, whereas FL in the narrow sense (FLN) includes only recursion, is the only uniquely human component of the FL, and may have evolved for a reason(s) other than language.
