Ferritin

Iron-binding protein; stores iron in the body, mainly in the liver, spleen, intestinal mucosa, and in bone marrow, where it is scavenged from damaged red blood cells. Ferritin is remarkable for its complexity, and consists of products from 20 separate genes.
