Fetus

Term used to describe the prenatal young of viviparous mammals in the latter stages of development, when organs form and body structures become recognizable as characteristic of a species; in humans, the fetus exists from the 8th developmental week until birth. Adjective: fetal. In humans, the fetus exists during the fetal stage.
