Flat Bone

One of the four types of bone classified by their shape; thin compact bone covered by periosteum with endosteum-covered cancellous bone inside. Flat bones have broad surfaces (e.g. some of the bones of the skull, ribs, scapulae) and undergo intramembranous bone development.
