Fluorine Test

Assay for the presence of absorbed fluorine in bones that have been buried, and exposed to fluorine-bearing groundwater. Fluorine is combined with bone calcium as fluorapatite. The longer a bone has been exposed to this process, the greater the quantity of fluorapatite, hence its use as a relative dating technique.
