Gas Exchange

During respiration, process of osmosis of air-like materials across a semipermeable membrane. Takes place predominantly in the alveoli embedded in the mucosa of lung tissues, where CO2 is exchanged with O2; optimal exchange occurs at core body temperature and 100% humidity.
