Genital Swelling

Enlargement of the sex organs in some groups of primates. In females this involves an engorging of blood in the sexual skin when they enter estrus, serving as a signal to males. In some species, the testes of males swell in size during the breeding season, presumably a sign of increased sperm production.

See sperm competition.
