Glenohumeral Joint

Shoulder joint; ball-and-socket joint formed between the humerus and the scapula. This is the most freely movable joint of the hominoid body, permitting flexion, extension, adduction, abduction (see abductor), rotation, and circumduction. It is felt that this joint is a result of pressures for arboreal climbing, although brachiation is the most honed expression of this adaptation. Aka humeroscapular joint.
