Dietary category reflecting a specialization on the plant subfamily Gramineae, i.e. grasses. Sometimes occurs with granivory. Among primates, baboons (Papio) are considered graminivores, as are gentle lemurs (Hapalemur), who eat bamboo, a type of tropical grass. Gramnivore is a term often incorrectly used to describe an animal that eats grasses or seeds.

Cf. granivory.
