Heterogamy

1. having sex cells of different types with respect to the sex chromosomes, as in human males. Adjective: heterogametic.

2. union of two gametes of different size, structure, and function.

3. alternation of two kinds of generation, one that reproduces bisexually and another in which the female reproduces asexually without fecundation by the male, as in some aphids; parthenogenesis.
