Homologous

Pertaining to similarity of structure but not necessarily of function. Identical in otherwise dissimilar organisms due to common descent, e.g. homologues, specific genes, transcription elements, domains, or physiological or anatomical structures. Also said of chromatid pairs, as in homologous chromatids.
