Inheritance

1. in genetics, said of the process whereby any trait or character is passed from one generation to the next and results in a resemblance of offspring to parents that is not the result of learning (see heritability). Aka Darwinian inheritance.

2. nongenetic transfer of objects and/or knowledge from one organism or group to another organism or group, often following lines of descent; aka cultural inheritance.
