Inversion Heterozygote

Diploid individual heterokaryotypic for an inversion (2). If the number of crossovers that occur between the inverted region and its normal homologue is an odd number, reproductive problems may occur due to recombination, resulting in duplications and deletions of genes in the gametes of the individual. Inversions normally do not change the diploid number.
