Local Resource Competition

Condition in which a mother and daughter(s) compete for resources in the mother’s home range. This has been described for galagos, in which the daughters do not disperse far from their natal range. Thus, it is advantageous for a female to produce more male offspring than females (who will compete with her).

Cf. local mate competition.
