Maize

Zea mays, one of the four most important food crops in the world, a domesticated plant food item that originated in both Central and South America. Maize is thought to be an end product of the domestication of teosinte, a wild weedy crop (Zea mexicana); maize (corn) is low in certain necesary nutrients such as niacin, and is classified in the C4 vegetation group.
