Major Chromosome Anomaly

A clinically detectable mutation involving chromosomes. Common MCAs include polyploidy, trisomy, inversion, translocation, duplication, and deletion. MCAs often affect an individual’s phenotype. MCAs are a significant component in human infertility as well as one of the major modes of chromosome evolution.
