Male Genomic Imprinting

NonMendelian phenomenon in which the expression of a gene depends on inheritance from the father of two homologous copies of a gene. Double copies of certain alleles inherited from a male seem to control normal placental development. Aka parental imprinting.

Cf. female genomic imprinting.

See genomic imprinting and Haig hypothesis.
