Male Mutation Rates

Mutation rates in human males have been shown to be greater (1.7) to considerably greater (5.1) than in human females. These same studies also suggest a paternal age effect, presumably due to the lack of somatic protection of gonadal DNA compared to that of females.

See ratio of male to female mutation rates.
