Mandibular Ramus

Vertical projection that rises from the mandibular body. The ramus is divided into an anterior coronoid process (that serves as a site for chewing muscle attachments) and a posterior mandibular condyle (that articulates with the temporal bone). In the past this structure was referred to as the vertical ramus (the mandibular body was referred to as the horizontal ramus).
