Normal Distribution

Theoretical frequency distribution of data points that, when arranged from smallest to largest, have the most common values in the middle of the range near the mean; i.e. a symmetrical unimodal (bell-shaped) distribution. Many statistical tests (see parametric tests) are based on the assumption of a bell-shaped curve even though such distributions are not the norm in nature. Aka Gaussian distribution.
