Nuclear Transfer

Method of whole-organism cloning in which the nucleus is removed with a special pipette from an unfertilized egg cell; the enucleated egg is then fused with a totipotent cell taken from a 16-32 cell embryo. The fused cells are transplanted into the uterus of a foster mother.

Cf. embryo splitting.
