Condition characterized by chronic weight gain and retention, the result of excessive caloric intake and inadequate energy expenditure. The WHO-CDC criteria for obesity is at the 95th percentile of BMI for sex and age (roughly 30), and overweight at the 85th percentile (roughly 25). Obesity is a complex condition in humans, and genetic factors play only a part.
