Occipitomastoid Crest

Small ridge of bone on the mastoid process posterior to the styloid process of the cranial base and medial to the groove for the occipital artery; this is the lateral border for attachment of the superior oblique muscle. In modern humans this structure is greatly reduced in comparison to earlier humans such as Neandertals.
