Orbit

Cavity in the anterior of the face, superior to the nasal cavity and interior to the forehead, that protects and contains the eyes and its associated musculature and nerves. Adjective: orbital. In anthropoids the orbits are a composite of six different cranial and facial bones: lacrimal, ethmoid, frontal, sphenoid, zygomatic, and maxillary bones; aka eye socket.
