Pelvic Inlet

Superior portion of the central opening of the pelvis and superior border of the true pelvis; the pelvic brim is the bony border surrounding this aperture. The dimensions of this opening, in combination with that of the pelvic outlet, is critical to uncomplicated childbirth. It is round or oval in female humans, heart-shaped in males.
