Failure of the limbs to develop properly, resulting in small limb buds and other dysplasias. The most usual manifestation is the absence of the most proximal bone of a limb, e.g. the humerus or femur. Three forms occur, all autosomal recessive. Very rarely seen in a full-term fetus. The thalidomide baby syndrome is a phenocopy. Aka Roberts syndrome.
