Post-translational Processing

Modifications to polypeptide chains after they leave the ribosome, during which occurs acetylation, hydroxylation, phosphorylation, attachment of sugars and prosthetic groups, oxidation of cysteines (to form disulfide bonds), cleavage of specific regions (that convert proenzymes to enzymes), prenylation to lipids, etc. Aka protein folding.
