Proliferative Phase

Second phase of the human uterine cycle, encompassing days 5-14, and characterized by relatively low concentrations of the hormone progesterone, and peak concentrations of LH, FSH, and estrogens. Estrogen peaks around day 11; FSH and LH surges occur around days 12-13, and ovulation occurs 24-36 h later, in the secretory phase. There is growth in the ovarian follicles, and the water content of the endometrium increases during its repair as glands increase in number. Aka estrogenic phase.
