Protein Misfolding Disorder

Any of several heritable or induced conditions caused by or leading to pre-disposition to misfolded proteins. Some of these conditions lead to the accumulation of misfolded or fibrillized proteins in the brain, called amyloid. Examples are Alzheimer disease, amyloidosis, and the infectious PrPSc form of the prion protein.
