Ramamorph

Vernacular applied to middle Miocene hominoids inhabiting Europe and East Africa; the main characteristic of this group is thick enamel on the molars. The term does not have taxonomic status and is derived from the genus Ramapithecus (and its subfamily Ramapithecinae), which has subsequently been subsumed into Sivapithecus.
