Reciprocal Translocation

Any major chromosomal anomaly that results in the exchange of chromosome segments between nonhomologous chromosomes. A reciprocal translocation alters the sequence of genes on the affected chromosomes, but not the total number of genes, thus preserving genetic balance. Aka illegitimate crossover.
