Relaxed Maternal Selection

Hypothesis proposed to account for the increased incidence of aneuploid children with advanced maternal age; maternal selection, according to the hypothesis, results in the spontaneous abortion of chromosomally abnormal embryos, but as women age this alleged process becomes less effective, allowing abnormal embryos to implant and develop.
