Repetitive DNA

Sequences of DNA with iterative repeats. Repetitive DNA is classified as being either tandem repeat sequences or scattered repeat sequences. Tandem repeats, in turn, are distinguished by the size and number of the repeats, as being microsatellite DNA, minisatellite DNA, or satellite DNA. Much of the human genome consists of repetitive DNA.
