Secretory Phase

Third phase of the human uterine cycle, encompassing days 14-27, and characterized by relatively low concentrations of the hormones LH and FSH, but rising concentrations of progesterone and estrogen. Ovulation normally occurs during the initial hours of the secretory phase. The corpus luteum grows dramatically, and the endometrium thickens. If fertilization does not occur, these structures begin to degenerate. Aka progestational phase.
