Short Bones

One of the four types of bone as classified by their shape; short bones are characterized by thin compact bone covered by periosteum with endosteum-covered cancellous bone inside; these bones are roughly cube-shaped. Examples are some of the bones of the wrists and ankles. Short bones undergo endochondral ossification.
